New premises

RIVM will move to the Utrecht Science Park in 2018. Together with the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB), RIVM will occupy the new building on the Weg tot de Wetenschap in Utrecht. In summer 2014, the project was awarded to a consortium of Strukton, Hurks and Heijmans (StruktonHurksHeijmans consortium).

The contract award completed the dialogue phase of the tender process. In this phase, the client and the parties involved worked on the design for the new premises. During this period, they tested whether they have understood one another and assessed whether the design is feasible. In April 2014, two tenders were received for the new premises and were assessed by an extensive team of specialists. In mid-July, an agreement was signed between the Government and the consortium, and at the end of August  'financial close' was reached.

Public Private Partnership

The new building will be developed in a Public Private Partnership (PPS) under a contract that makes StruktonHurksHeijmans responsible for the design, construction, financing and maintenance of the new building including facility services.

The new building has 18 storeys including offices and laboratories. A clear and transparant design supports RIVM and MEB in knowledge development and sharing.
